Fortunate for those around me!

Good morning my loves! It’s a wonderful day, it’s not a bright day by any means here but it just got a little brighter in my life. These holidays have made me realize how thankful I am for my family and friends, the people always there for me, who I never have to be afraid of what they’ll say next because I know there is nothing but good in their hearts. I also had a little Christmas miracle myself, my love was actually granted Christmas Day off and we were able to spend it together. Never until this year where he almost had to work it have I realized how important it was to me to have my family around. I always know how much I love my family being there, but it wasn’t until it almost was taken away that I realized how fortunate I am to have them every year.

I don’t know about you, but I had a fantastic Christmas, lots of good food, lots of family and lots, and I mean lots of presents for my daughter. She got incredibly spoiled this year by my family, she got a couple gifts from us and Santa, but that’s the reason why we don’t buy her much. It’s a little overwhelming for a child to have so many presents and my family is so generous so she doesn’t need a lot from mommy and daddy.

Tonight I’ll also be getting back to pole; I’ve missed it over the past couple of days due to all the excitement and family gatherings. I’m thinking of coming up with a routine of my own since we don’t start learning a new one until the week of January 6th. I’m going through pole withdrawal! It’s in my dreams, every time I pass it in my living room I just want to jump up on it, it’s an addiction.

Well another short post today! Time for me to get my butt moving because I still have family things to do!

On this eve of Christmas!

Good morrow! I apologize for no post yesterday; I’ve been feeling quite ill lately. Just before Christmas, that’s my luck! Today will be a short post as well because of the same reason. Really I just wanted to get on here so I could wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays because for obvious reasons I won’t be putting up a post tomorrow.

Speaking of tomorrow, I will be up super early, not because of my daughter but because Bell (a tv/phone/internet provider here in Canada) has decided that they are going to pull my love into work on Christmas day. How Scrooge-ish! I was pretty upset, I mean like everything is closed on Christmas, with the exception to places that need to be open, like hospitals and the buses, but really does bell have to be, do people need internet installed that badly that they can’t wait a day. I guess it’s important for people to have their phones, in case of emergency, but still, I feel like they could have looked for volunteers and then if they didn’t have enough start to assign people. Because there are people who don’t celebrate Christmas, or don’t have family to do anything with, and you get paid time and a half on that day, I’m sure they’d be willing to work for the extra money.

Anyways, that’s enough complaining from me! We still get to have some time in the morning because we’ll be waking up early. I’m excited to see that wide eyed joyful look on my daughters face when she sees the presents from Santa, such a magical time. This year all my Christmas money is going towards my pole-tuition for January, money well spent!

Before I leave you, I’m going to give those of you with kids, or even those of you who just like treats, a recipe to do with the children! Santa cookies!

 

Peanut butter Blossoms

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup shortening
  • 1 cup peanut butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ cup white sugar (for decoration)
  • 2 (9-oz) bags milk chocolate candy kisses, unwrapped

DIRECTIONS

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together shortening, peanut butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup white sugar until smooth. Add in the eggs one at a time, beating until fully incorporated. Mix in milk and vanilla.
  3. In a large bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the peanut butter mixture until well blended.
  4. Shape tablespoonfuls of dough into balls, and roll in remaining white sugar. Place cookies 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheets.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 10 to12 minutes. Remove from oven, and immediately press a chocolate kiss into each cookie. Allow to cool completely; the kiss will harden as it cools.

Now this makes about 80 cookies, and lets face it, Santa doesn’t need 80 cookies. But the reason I like this recipe is because I also get to bring some to the Christmas party, or give as gifts!

2013 you’ve been a cruel and fantastic bitc…. year…

As the end of the year quickly approaches I can’t help but reflect on the year that has passed. I’ve accomplished a lot this year; it’s been a good year. I’ve learned a lot of new things, I’ve also learned to let go of things that make me miserable.  I also look over the things I’ve accomplished in pole that I literally never thought I’d be able to do and it makes me feel like a super hero that can do anything!

One thing that I was certain I was never going to be able to do was the shoulder mount. I first saw my home studio at Sexapalooza, a convention that goes on all over Canada (really fun convention). When I saw this girl preform the shoulder mount I was in awe. I didn’t understand how she could have that much strength to flip her body upside down while standing with her back to the pole. I was amazed and so when I started pole again in level 1 it was a faraway dream. It hasn’t even been a year and I’ve now managed to preform that move, and this was really special for me. It was also a big turning point for me because it made me realize that I can do this, now when I watch pole videos it’s “I can’t wait to do that” not “I wish I could do that”.

Another move that I was incredibly proud of getting was the Gemini and Scorpio. They always looked so beautiful and elegant, something I was dying to do. So when we finally learned it in lvl 5 I was ecstatic, and scared. I’m not going to lie, to let go like that is kind of scary, and I’ve never had to do a move that required side stick.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Things I’d like to work on? My floor work and transitions! I love the physical side of pole fitness but I also enjoy the sexy side. My floor work is definitely something I want to work on.  I recently saw a post on http://poleitical.com about a show that goes on called Girl Next Door Show – a Pole Dancing Soiree, and I was amazed by the videos. One pole dancer in particular caught my attention, her stage name is Shimmy. I’ve posted her video below because it’s just so well done, if I were to dance like any one someday it would be her. I love the balance she has between sexy and strength, it works perfectly together.

Some of my goal moves for the future? The superman definitely! I love that move, not just because I’m a huge nerd but because it’s just such an impressive move that you have to transition to get into, which makes it that much more impressive.

In conclusion, 2013 has been a really good year, and I can only hope 2014 brings even better things.

No pole?! Conflicted emotions!!

So I had a fantastic class last night! It was our last class of lvl 5 which meant dress up class. Obviously being so close to Christmas, that was our theme! I had a blast, picked up a new move, got to see my ladies, took some pictures, it was great!

The move I picked up last night is the starfish! I’m very excited about this because a move I’ve always wanted to do is the superman and I know this is one of the ways to get into it which means I’m one step closer to accomplishing it. The shoulder mount was my goal for so long and I accomplished that a couple of weeks ago so I needed a new goal. Unfortunately it’s Christmas break for my home studio so they’re closed for 2 weeks. Don’t get me wrong, everyone needs their breaks, plus it’s Christmas, so I’m excited, but still sad, it’s very conflicting.

I also made a little Christmas gift for my pole ladies. A home made lotion I call Dancing Girl Lotion, and thank god they loved it because I was nervous about giving it to them. I am with anything home made, because you work on something to make a gift personal so all you can hope is  they like it.

Me and my ladies! We’re all pretty awesome and they make pole even better. It’s always nice to have good friends doing what you all love together, it makes it so much easier to get new moves when you have these ladies cheering you on. I really love this picture.

Corinne (my wonderful pole instructor) and I. We wound up wearing very similar outfits! Worked out well that mine was green and hers was red. Corinne is a huge inspiration of mine, she amazes me with all she can do and she looks like she does it with such ease! Although I know better than that, I know the discipline and dedication it takes to learn and preform  moves.

Short post today because my little one has gymnastics this morning, but I’ll leave you with another delectable recipe!

Mint protein fudge

Clean Eating Chocolate Mint Fudge

Makes 12 Squares.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Plain Pumpkin Puree
  • 1/4 Cup Natural Cocoa
  • *2 Scoops Chocolate Protein Powder (Optional)
  • 1/8 Cup Honey (you can use agave, maple etc)
  • 3 Packets of Stevia
  • 1/3 Cup of Natural Plain Cashew Butter
  • 1/3 Cup Dark Chocolate Chips
  • 1/2 Tsp Mint Extract (or peppermint)

*1 scoop protein powder is usually about a ¼ cup.

Directions:

  1. Blend all ingredients (except chocolate chips) in a bowl with a spoon until smooth. Having your nut butter at room temperature helps this process go faster.
  2. I used an 8×8 baking pan. First I took cling wrap and covered the bottom and sides of the pan. Then I added the batter on top.
  3. Top with chocolate chips evenly.
  4. Then I took another sheet of cling wrap and covered the batter. This is easy, less messy and I do not have to fight to get the fudge out when I am ready to serve it.
  5. Place in freezer over night.
  6. Remove from freezer and cut into 12 squares. Serve immediately. Keep the cut fudge covered in the freezer until ready to eat.
  7. This is a cold treat.

Good for after workouts because it’s packed with protein, and especially delicious because of it’s chocolate-y goodness! Until tomorrow mes amours!

Ho Ho Ho…ly Hell it’s only a week until Christmas!

Panic parents, panic! It’s only a week until Christmas! Get ready for the chaos that is the holidays. Family dinners, travel, the gifts, it’s all coming in a week! Personally I finished my Christmas shopping for my little one last week. I didn’t get her nearly as much as I got her last year; I realized that the more toys she has doesn’t make her happier, she was just as happy to play with the boxes. So I went with this rule I saw on Facebook for gift giving to your kids.

  1. One thing they want
  2. One thing they need
  3. One thing they wear
  4. One thing they read

I think those are pretty decent rules to live by. Plus you know they always get at least one present from Santa as well. A tradition I like to do with my daughter is the toy donation that happens in my city every year, not only does it teach her the gift of giving, but it also teaches her that not everything we buy is for her, and even though it may be a toy she wants, there’s someone else out there not as fortunate as we are and who would appreciate it a lot more.

This year I’ve been able to use Santa as a threat, and it’s been wonderful. It’s the first year my daughter has really understood who Santa was. So when she’s acting up, which happens often because she is the spawn of me, I just tell her “Santa’s watching!” and it quickly becomes “I’ll be happy mommy!” It’s fantastic and I plan to milk this all I can during this one month just as my parents did to me!

On a slightly sadder note, I don’t know how to say this, I get all choked up. Pole class goes on break for 2 weeks! I know I’m so sad!  They take a Christmas break so that means no pole until the week of January 6th. It’s tragic really. But everyone deserves their Christmas break so I’m not mad, just sad. But I hope to see my pole girls during the break because I can’t go 2 weeks without seeing them!

Tonight is also dress-up night so prepare for some Christmas themed pole pictures tomorrow; I’m wearing a cute two piece green Santa dress. I’m thinking I might bring my good DSLR camera to get some good quality not camera phone pics; although these days camera phones are very impressive.

Since I haven’t done it in a while, here’s a recipe for today, a healthy delicious holiday treat!

LUSCIOUSLY NUTTY HOLIDAY LOGS

 

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 cup finely chopped walnuts
  • 1/3 cup plus 5 teaspoons sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated orange zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 8 sheets phyllo dough, (9-by-14-inch), thawed
  • Canola oil cooking spray

TOPPING

  • 1/3 cup semisweet chocolate chips

PREPARATION

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper or nonstick baking mats.
  2. To prepare logs: Combine nuts, 1/3 cup sugar, orange zest, cinnamon and cloves in a small bowl.
  3. Place one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean, dry surface. Coat thoroughly with cooking spray. Top with another sheet of phyllo and coat with cooking spray. Sprinkle one-quarter of the walnut mixture (about 1/3 cup) evenly over the phyllo.
  4. Using a sharp knife, cut the large phyllo rectangle lengthwise into 3 strips then in half crosswise to form 6 smaller rectangular strips.
  5. Beginning at the short ends, loosely roll each strip into a neat log. Repeat with the remaining phyllo and walnut mixture.
  6. Place the logs about 1/2 inch apart on the prepared baking sheets. Spray tops lightly with cooking spray and sprinkle with the remaining 5 teaspoons sugar.
  7. Bake the logs, in batches, until golden, about 25 minutes. Let cool completely.
  8. To prepare topping: Place chocolate chips in a small microwave-safe dish. Microwave on High for 30 seconds. Stir. Continue to microwave for 20-second intervals until melted, stirring after each interval. Transfer the chocolate to a plastic sandwich bag. Snip off one corner, being careful not to make the opening too large. Squeeze the melted chocolate decoratively across the top of each cooled log. Let stand at room temperature until the chocolate is completely set.

TIPS & NOTES

  • Make Ahead Tip: Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or freeze without the chocolate drizzle (Step 8) for up to 1 month. Defrost at room temperature before decorating with the chocolate drizzle.

Per cookie: 76 calories; 4 g fat ( 1 g sat , 1 g mono ); 0 mg cholesterol; 9 g carbohydrates; 1 g protein; 1 gfiber; 31 mg sodium; 36 mg potassium.

The 12 days of Polemas! The Christmas list of a poler!

So it’s that wonderful time of the year! The time of family and friends, sitting around the fireplace laughing, and of course gift giving. Personally I’m not big on receiving expensive gifts, as many people, I’d be happy with just some baked deliciousness. I do however love to give gifts! I love making gifts, I love buying gifts (I love shopping, even Christmas shopping). So how about that pole dancer in your life? What on earth can you get her? Well here’s my list of top 10 gifts for a pole dancer!

10. Pole Cleaner & Cloth

An inexpensive gift that can easily be personalized, a great make it yourself gift! Pole cleaner is really just rubbing alcohol, it helps with stick and gives your pole a nice shine. We clean our poles consistently, especially when were using them. Go out and find a microfiber cloth (pink is always preferable, or perhaps purple! Find out your polers favorite color). Get a neat bottle, doesn’t have to be black, maybe there’s a white one and you can decorate it with different paints or stickers. Or I’m sure because it’s around Christmas time, you could even find a Christmas themed bottle!

9. Wrist Bands

These are the wristbands from my home studio, 3sixty dance and fitness! These helped my wrists immensely when I was having problems with them while on the pole. I didn’t think they would help much but honestly my wrists haven’t hurt since, I can’t tell you why, it might just add that little bit of support I needed while building the muscles. Also helps a lot when trying to avoid pole burn on your wrists!

8. Leg Warmers

Not only fashionable but great if you’re living in Canada! Even in the winter my pole studio has its air on, because lets face it, even in the middle of winter when you start your spinning you’re getting hot. But when you first get there, it’s freezing! So these are perfect as a Christmas gift.

7. Alethea Austin’s Sexy Fundamentals and Floorwork DVD

Floor work is a very important part of pole dancing, it’s a sexy transition that splits up your routine. Not everyone is naturally talented at it though, and so this DVD is a great Christmas gift to help that poler in your life get her floor work down. It’s actually the only DVD I know of that covers floor work. If you know of others, let me know in the comments below!

6. Spa Day

It’s self explanatory! There’s no secret here, after a night of hitting the pole hard it feels like your muscles have been beaten to a pulp. Walking down stairs is the biggest feat of the day, sitting is even painful. We’ve all been there, where we’ve pushed ourselves too far. A spa day is our answer, a gift certificate to a local spa would be a perfect Christmas gift for that poler in your life!

I don’t think I’d be able to preform a single thing if it weren’t for this miracle worker. Available on Amazon.com for Americans and Ebay for anybody, this is probably one of the most used items I have in my pole bag. So if it’s winter and you live in a cold climate, get the ultra formula of this stuff because you will have no regrets!

4. Gym Bag

The reason this is so high on the list is because it’s from one of my favorite artists, Leen Isabel. She does the pole dancing adventure comics, and this is definitely one thing I’d love to own. I love showing people the pride I have in pole dancing, I’m not ashamed of it at all because I understand the incredible strength and dedication it takes to do it. And those who think otherwise, who call me a stripper, well I educate them and dare them to try and lift their own body weight in gravity defying moves!

Pole dancing clothes! I love shopping, I love online shopping, and I love shopping for clothes so I am consistently keeping an eye out for clothes that would make good clothes for a pole photo shoot. The rope like clothing is the best because it looks sexy but still allows you to have the grip necessary to preform moves. There are tons of sites that cater to pole dancers so go put a wish list together girls!

2. Pole Membership

One of the only things I dislike about pole is the fact it’s such an expensive obsession, I mean, hobby. Don’t get me wrong, it’s completely worth it, pole makes me very happy but debt makes me unhappy, so this would be one of the best Christmas gifts you could get a poler. But like I said it’s expensive, so if you can’t dish out the cash, giving a poler a little bit of money towards her pole-tuition is something she would be completely grateful for (or he, I do know some male pole dancers)

So normally I would put the membership at number one but I’m in love with shoes, so shoes came first. There are so many sites with great shoes, including Pleaser Shoes & Boots! Which is a great site for ordering in bulk because it’s wholesale, so get some pole girls together and order, or you know, if you’re a shoe-holic like myself, an entire order for yourself! But there are plenty of other sites that sell excellent pole shoes, or (usually) a local sex shop sells these sexy boots.

So that’s my top 10 list of Christmas gifts perfect for a pole dancer/fitness enthusiast! If anyone wants to get me anything off the list, I won’t fight it! I normally don’t like receiving gifts but I’ll make an exception for some of these! Of course I’m joking… or am I… Anyways enjoy your day, I know I will, it’s pole day! It’s pole day, pole day, gotta get down on pole day!

Alright that’s the last time you’ll ever hear me quote that “song”. That doesn’t mean I’m any less excited though! Wednesdays are my favorite day, it’s the night I go to the studio with my best friend, we go and get lots of bruises! Woohoo! I still have bruises from last week, they’re pretty nasty.

This year I got my Christmas tree early!

I got a nice big fat tree! I love it! My little one is super excited to decorate but I have to hold her off until Daddy is off work on Thursday so we can all do it together.

It’s one of my favorite parts of Christmas, and now my house smells like beautiful pine!

One tradition that my family has is we get a new ornament every year to hang on the tree. I have a total of 30 or something close to that, some years when I was younger I got more than one. Now I do the same for my daughter, it’s great to carry on nice family traditions!

What are some of your Holiday traditions you do with your family? Be it Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, I’d love to hear about them!

Alright time for a delicious recipe! Today is another treat, who am I kidding, they’re always treats. Truth is I love sweets so when I can find a way to make them healthier, all the better so I don’t have to feel guilty after eating it.

Skinny Chocolate Candy Cane Bark

Makes 3 Servings.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup Natural Raw Almonds
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped 70% Dark Chocolate (or Chocolate Chips)
  • 2 Mini Candy Canes (crushed)
  • 1/2 Tsp Peppermint Extract

Directions:

  1. Place almonds, chocolate and mint extract in a double boiler (if you don’t have a double boiler, a glass pyrex bowl or something along those lines, well fitted on top of a pot of boiling water so that it melts the chocolate will work just as well)   until almonds are completely coated in chocolate.
  2. On a wax-paper covered plate pour chocolate almond mixture into a single layer.
  3. Sprinkle crushed candy cane over top or layer.
  4. Cover with saran wrap and place in the freezer for at least one hour.
  5. Remove from freezer and cut into three pieces.
  6. Enjoy!

Delicious! And dark chocolate is actually good for you, in moderation of course! Enjoy a holiday treat, December is one of my favorite months because it’s candy cane flavored EVERYTHING! It’s the most wonderful time of the year! (Thought that if I started this post with a song, I should end with one too!)

Snow Day!

That’s right people, it’s a snow day! Which I know some of you are groaning at but it’s so beautiful! We got 15-25 cm of snow from last night to this morning. And the majority of it came between 2 and 6 because I was up at 2 and it wasn’t that bad and I wake up at 6 with my little one, and there’s so much now! My little one is absolutely thrilled, as soon as she’s done breakfast we’re going outside to shovel, well my love and I will shovel, my little one will be fooling around in the snow. I expect no less from her!

Well my cool down routine was quite the success yesterday so I’m thinking I may do another warm up and cool down sometime soon. They’re such important parts of your work out and there are so many different ways to do them. Also I may include a routine to increase your flexibility. While I’m not fully flexible, where I am now compared to where I was in the summer is amazing. I’ve never been flexible in my life, but if you keep working on it, it will happen!

So one thing about me that you don’t know is that I love Christmas! Christmas music (I don’t work in retail so I don’t have to listen to it for 8 hours a day 5 days a week, so I’m not sick of it just yet), Christmas trees, Christmas baking! Another major love of mine is anything candy cane… seriously… if it has the name candy cane in it, I’m there. The peppermint hot chocolates are at McDonald’s and Timmies right now and I’m just crazy for them. For the holiday season I’m switching up from my Chocolate Cherry Protein Shake for breakfast.

Vanilla Candy Cane Protein Shake

WHAT!?! Amazing right! Doesn’t it just look like something you could have ALL the time! I’m drooling right now just looking at the picture. What’s that? Hmmm? “Elise show us how to make such a delectable treat!” Well I guess I could, all of you are pretty fantastic!

 

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of lowfat cottage cheese or 0% greek yogurt
  • 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder
  • Few drops of peppermint extract, to taste (be careful- it’s strong!)
  • 1 tbsp of  instant vanilla pudding dry mix (A lot of recipes call for sugar free pudding, but honestly the risk of ingesting aspartame greatly outweighs the sugar content of regular pudding)
  • sweetener to taste (I used stevia)
  • 1 small piece of candy cane, crushed
  • 4 oz water, start with that and add more if you want to thin it out
  •  ice

Instructions

  1.  Mix all together in a blender- blend it up!
  2.  Pour in a glass and garnish with chopped candy canes

Now this still constitutes as a treat, because of the sugar in Candy Canes and the pudding. But you know what, a treat like this a couple times a week isn’t all that bad, and if it hits that sweet tooth for you and keeps you away from the chocolate bars and ice cream then good!

Yum yum! If that looks good to you then just get ready for the whole 24 days up to Christmas because it’ll be filled with healthy treats as well as just plain old treats, because once in a while its nice to indulge in something we love. Until tomorrow!

 

The wonderful weekend!… is over…

Merry Monday dear people! Or not, like I said last week, Mondays can be a pain if you work a Mon-Fri job. But hopefully you’re nice and awake and getting ready to go. Even though it’s a Monday doesn’t mean you shouldn’t enjoy it like it’s a Saturday. Keep a positive outlook on it! For me, I just remind myself that it’s only 2 days until I get to go to the studio!

So this weekend I had my friends baby shower, her baby is due right around when my little one was born. We’ve been friends for years so I found it pretty funny when she told me her due date.

This is the cake I made for her shower, turns out fondant is a pain in my… you know… to work with. But the cake was delicious and we had such a blast and her boyfriend showed up and he’s pretty funny.

There was delicious food, good friends, music, and of course the mother to be, looking tired but I wish I could look that good when I’m tired.

We also played a hilarious game, I was crying because I was laughing so hard. And of course there were lots of adorable presents.

So I’m crossing my fingers that my grip for my legs comes in today, I’m really hoping to start practicing my holds and cross ankle releases. Which right now feels impossible on my chrome pole, my cold chrome pole, with my dry Canadian skin.

Short post today so I’m going to leave you with another delicious recipe, and keep an eye out tomorrow for my cool down routine.

Now if you’re like me, cooking dinner every night for the hungry mouths that live in your house, coming up with a main dish is work enough. So today I’m going to give you a recipe that is a quick and easy side dish to go with that delicious pork, or chicken, or ribs.

Parmesan Garlic Orzo

I love orzo, it’s so quick and easy, I can also trick my daughter into eating it because she thinks it’s rice!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of Orzo pasta
  • 1/4 cup of butter
  • 2 tbs of minced garlic
  • 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt and ground black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook orzo in the boiling water, stirring occasionally until cooked through but firm to the bite, about 11 minutes. Drain.
  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat; cook and stir garlic in melted butter until lightly browned, about 5 minutes. Stir orzo into garlic mixture and mix in Parmesan cheese, milk, salt, black pepper, and parsley.

See, simple, quick, and trust me it’s delicious.

All I want for Christmas is my two bottles of grip!

Alright, I’ve had very little sleep, which really is normal, but last night was worse. My poor little girl is a little sick right now and with her stuffy nose it was impossible for her to sleep. She kept waking up randomly whimpering, it was so consistent to the point that she was in my bed and my love had to go sleep in her bed because he gets up at 6 am to get ready for work. So all of this makes me wildly edgy this morning, and I made the worst mistake… I got on the internet. Feel free to scroll on down to the next paragraph to avoid the incoming rant. On FB a local radio station had linked some website that is petitioning to bring back “merry Christmas” … cause you know… no one EVVVERRR says that anymore (Please feel free to wipe up the dripping sarcasm from that sentence). You know where they don’t say it… businesses, because Canada is such a diverse place with many religions it makes sense to do so, but outside of a business, say it to your hearts content. You can wish me a happy Hanukkah,a happy Kwanzaa, or even Merry Christmas and you know what, I’m not offended because I am just thankful that you took the time of day to wish me good tidings… What irritates me the most about this whole BS site though is the fact that there are such large scale natural disasters happening right now and people are concerned with a saying. If you’re going to reach out to people with a cause, how about make it a positive cause to help people instead of something so petty as a couple of words. Anyways END RANT. FIN. I’m done.

Anyways back to more positive things, like pole! With the winter seasons approaching fast the air is getting more dry and it is getting much colder (at least where I live, in Canada where winter lasts 6 months). But thankfully my teacher at pole keeps a bottle of grip ready for people who need it, but I feel bad using it so I’m going to look into purchasing a couple of bottles, one I’ll keep at home and one will be in my work out bag for pole. At the moment it’s my legs that are suffering the most, obviously from my post yesterday my hands aren’t having an issue yet. When ever I try to do the lay back I slide right down, so gracefully, straight on my bum.

Now I learned this move as the lay back, but what some people call the lay back, I know as the cross ankle release. I know confusing right, there’s so many different moves with so many different names. So you can see how I would just slide down when your legs are dry and have no grip. What makes this even worse is that this move is in our routine! 

 

 

There is a spray you can get for your legs to help, I’m not to sure where to get it, that’ll take some research. But hand grip is easy to get, I can get it from say x-pole but I’m going to try and find a site that offers a little more to Canadians. Although my first choice for pole shopping will always be x-pole.

Today I’ll be making some pole related crafts, I’m hoping to open a little Etsy shop. I’m not going to tell you guys with what just yet, you’ll have to wait and see. But right now it’s hard for me to find a job because I can only get something part time since day care is like 800$ a month here. I have to say single working moms are like super heroes to me, they are truely amazing and don’t get enough credit. Even working moms are amazing, it takes a lot to leave your child for the better of your child, although some women are just dying to get to back to work, it was the opposite with me. I didn’t want to leave Alice at all, she was such a bright light in my world that I wanted her around me all the time.
